Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about Dogear, how we research, and how to use the guides.
Common questions
What is Dogear?
Dogear is an independent publication with buying guides for the Kindle Paperwhite and the cases and accessories that go with it. We focus on e-readers and their accessories only.
Are you affiliated with Amazon?
No. We are not Amazon, not an authorized Amazon reseller, and not endorsed by Amazon. Kindle, Paperwhite and Colorsoft are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates.
Do you sell anything?
No. We do not sell products or take payments. Links go to Amazon.com, where you buy from Amazon or its sellers under their terms.
How do you make money?
Today, this site earns nothing from the links on it. We may join the Amazon Associates program in the future; if we do, qualifying links will carry a tracking tag, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you, and we will say so on our affiliate disclosure page.
Do you test the products you write about?
Not in a lab. Our guides are research-based, built from Amazon's own pages and reputable press coverage, and each page lists its sources. We state clearly when we have not handled a product, and we do not publish invented test results.
Where do your specs and prices come from?
From Amazon's product pages and announcements, supplemented by launch coverage from outlets such as WIRED, The Verge and TechRadar. Prices change often; each page shows the date we checked. The Amazon listing is always the source of truth.
Which Kindle Paperwhite should I buy?
It depends on timing and budget. The 2024 model is shipping and fully reviewed; the redesigned 2026 model ships October 28, 2026 at the same starting price. See our Paperwhite buying guide.
Which Kindle case should I buy?
Match the exact model year first, then choose a style. See our Kindle case guide.
I found a mistake. How do I report it?
Please tell us through the contact page. We correct factual errors promptly and note significant corrections on the page.
Do you use cookies or analytics?
The site does not set cookies of its own and we have not added analytics at this time. See our privacy page for detail.
